A NU IMAGE BY MII
LCN: Hi beautiful, welcome to Le Crème Nation. You’re definitely in the hot seat. Are you ready? NU: I’m always ready.
LCN: Tell us about your background... NU: I am Jamaican, Native American and Cuban. I am from Springfield, Massachusetts.
LCN: Where were you born, and how was life growing up? NU: I was born in Springfield and life growing up in the ghetto was full of experiences (smiles)
LCN: Did you receive a formal education or attend college? NU: Yes, I am in school studying medicine.
LCN: Is modeling your full-time gig, or do you have another job? NU: I am a medical technician. Modeling for me is a part time gig but I most definitely love it.
LCN: What is it about your personality and your upbringing that makes you so passionate about modeling? NU: I’ve always had a “diva/doll-like” attitude, so it’s natural for me to pose and want to always dress up, so to speak.
LCN: Did you pursue modeling with the hopes of being ANTM or on the runway? If so, how did you learn to accept your role as an urban model?
NU: I am actually a runway model and coach. I started out as a runway model. Urban modeling allows me to be sexy.
LCN: Who introduced you to the urban modeling industry?
NU: I was at a wedding in 2008 and the photographer wouldn’t stop taking photos of me. I asked him why he wasn’t focusing on the bridal party, he responded with “you’re beyond beautiful.” We exchanged contact information and my first shoot was with him for my own calendar, which sold out! From then, everything flourished.
LCN: What has this year been like for you in terms of modeling work?
NU: Ah man, simply blessings after blessing. I have so many assignments that I am looking forward to. Many more magazines, runways, catalogs, etc., to come.
LCN: How much experience have you gotten as far as working with and meeting people in the industry?
NU: I have worked with Rodney Gill, BET’s Vice President, I have hosted parties alongside NFL members, some of the top DJ’s, I have been in numerous fashion catalogs, numerous online magazines, I printed this summer. All were wonderful experiences.
LCN: What has been your most memorable modeling experience? NU: I was hosting a party in New York and a man came up to my VIP and said “Oh my gosh, it’s really you.” It was cool to know someone knew my little face (laughs).
LCN: As an urban model, you likely deal with stereotypes.
NU: Which would you say is the worst? We are “hoes” and have “no morals” I think are the worst. I’ve never been promiscuous and I am far from a statistic.
LCN: Do you think exotic dancers and pornstars stepping into the modeling industry create a negative stereotype for models that are only focused on being just models?
NU: As models or just wanting to be professionally photographed? I believe there is a difference. Modeling is an art, exotic dancers and pornstars that simply want to be professionally photographed do not. But, most of the public do not think as models do so I do believe these women do create a negative stereotype but I spread positivity so more power to them, can’t knock anyone’s hustle.

LCN: How would you describe the image that comes across when people look at your photos? NU: “She’s sexy!” I hope (laughs)
LCN: What keeps you motivated? NU: My family. My main focus is to retire my mother.
LCN: What type of ritual or routines do you follow to relax before shooting? NU: I have to listen to certain songs.
LCN: What would you say sets you apart from other women in the modeling industry, with similar goals? NU: As far as urban models, I do runway and fashion. As far as models as a whole, I am studying to be a physician. I don’t know many who can do what I do.

LCN: How do you maintain that perfect body? NU: I am an athlete and I work out, I believe in taking care of one self. Your health should be extremely important to you.
LCN: What would you consider your strongest attribute? NU: My thighs and smile.
